All you anime fans who loved “Spirited Away,” “Howl’s Moving Castle,” or “Princess Mononoke” are in for a treat. Next year, Studio Ghibli will be coming out with two new films to be released on the same day.
The first, entitled “Kaze Tachinu” (“The Wind Rises”) will be directed by none other than Hayao Miyazaki and will tell the story of Dr. Jiro Horikoshi who helped create the most famous war plane in Japan’s history, the Zero. The second film, will be directed by Ghibli co-founder, Isao Takahata, of “Grave of the Fireflies” fame. Titled “Kaguya-Hime no Monogatari” (“The Tale of Princess Kaguya”) it retells an old Japanese folk tale.
I cannot wait for these two films to come out. Especially in the US. What about you? Are you excited?
