Uh-oh. It seems that the upload site… um… Megaupload has been shut down just hours after the massive online protest against the SOPA and PIPA travesties in Congress right now. Even
though the owners of the site are not U. S. citizens, the U. S. Government saw fit to shut them down anyway, possibly to prove a point. Even though both SOPA and PIPA seem to be losing ground (because of the protest?), some are speculating that the shut down of Megaupload was a power play, to show what the government can and will do.
Lest the Otakuologist be accused of bias, it should be known that the executive named in the indictment is a known cyber-criminal Kim “Kimble” Schmitz. However, the American CEO of the company, rapper Swizz Beatz was not named.
